Premier was thrilled to partner with The Hamilton, Michael Shannon Designs and Radnor Property Group to complete this co-working hub. We were able to provide a full MillerKnoll and DIRTT solution throughout the entire space. The Hub offers a variety of work areas, both individual touchdown spots and collaborative rooms.

Some featured products include classics like Eames and Chadwick, while integrating some newer pieces like Cosm and Overlay. The space is beautifully defined with DIRTT modular walls. This solution creates dynamic rooms that can adapt and evolve to changing needs.

A brand new innovative learning center will be open for faculty and students this coming Fall - The Riley Center for STEM Education. Premier furnished The Center to create spaces that inspire, energize and push the boundaries of learning. The Center includes science laboratories, lab prep rooms and classroom, along with some common areas.

Premier worked with the design firm to select the appropriate furniture and finishes for the new space. The requirements for education furniture are very specific and we had to be sure they met the needs of the students and faculty. Learning environments are critical when it comes to the learning process, and having the right furniture in that space is what makes the space effective.

Temple University is a public research university which started as a night school in 1884. Temple has evolved into a powerhouse in higher education and a top-tier research institution. Temple is one of the the largest universities in Philadelphia, having about 40,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional students enrolled.

Temple began working on the Charles Library in 2013 and opened the doors of the impressive space in 2019. The library is a place for students to read, think and facilitate new ideas. Temple needed the entire space to be furnished with welcoming, practical and beautiful furniture - everything from the tables and chairs, to conference rooms and classrooms, lounge areas and community spaces. The space was so well-designed and truly creates a community for students, faculty and staff.

With 4 floors and over 200,000 square feet, Charles Library is a state-of-the-art learning center with beautiful design and sophisticated technology. The library holds an impressive collection of books in the traditional bookshelves. However, they are able to increase usability of the open spaces with the help of "BookBot" - an automated storage and retrieval system located underneath the library itself. The space is a fantastic center for collaboration and was designed to physically bring people together.

Premier is extremely proud to be a part of such a inspiring space. We love spaces that push the boundaries of traditional design. Every part of this project was designed for today's students.

Hilton at Penn’s Landing is a high-rise waterfront hotel in Philadelphia.

Guest experience is always a top priority for hotels. Their guest rooms and other common areas need to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Premier was given the task to bring several guest rooms and lobby areas up to date at the Hilton at Penn’s Landing. We were able to select new carpet, wall coverings, window treatments and furniture in the guest rooms, lobby areas and corridors. The guest bathrooms also received an update with new tile throughout, new vanities and fixtures. These simple fixes allowed Hilton to give that great first impression that every guest deserves.

Park Square exemplifies remarkable apartment living. This had to be evident as soon as you walk in the doors. The common spaces throughout the lobby were beautifully designed by a local architecture and interior design firm. Premier had the privilege of working with this firm to purchase and install the product. This product included customized upholstered walls, ottomans, pillows and even a custom-designed dining table. The space is absolutely stunning and has a great mix of materials and textures throughout. Park Square is an exceptional, welcoming place to call home.

PDQ is a leading point of sales system company for the restaurant industry. They help growing franchises/chains of all concepts sell more food to more people more quickly and more efficiently.

PDQ needed a space to fit their large employee base that was continuing to grow. They were faced with the challenge to have a room full of traditional call-center cubicles that lacked personality. Our team worked with PDQ to learn about the company and their culture. We developed a unique, dynamic layout to accommodate their large team. To add more personality and energy, we selected bright and bold finishes.

The majority of the space consisted of refurbished workstations, giving new life to tired panels. To outfit the remainder of the space, we were able to select in-house inventory that fit perfectly with the refurbished stations. This job is a true testament to Premier's ability to use our resources no matter what the client's needs. Together we co-created the perfect solution for PDQ.

Freedom Credit Union is a non-profit organization and financial institution serving the Philadelphia area since 1934.

When Freedom Credit Union decided to update their existing space, they also wanted to update their company’s culture and the way they work. That meant gutting the entire floor and starting with a blank canvas. They were ready to tear down their high panels, bring the offices to the interior of the building and incorporate more collaborative areas. Premier’s team guided them throughout the whole project, starting with determining the color palettes for the entire floorplate – paint, carpet, fabrics and finishes. Premier also developed the ideal typical workstation and office for them; was involved with selecting and installing all furniture; and designed and installed glass wall systems throughout the plan. The outcome was a space that Freedom Credit Union could be proud of and truly expressed their fresh and inclusive company culture.

Salus University’s Learning Resource Center replaced their former library and became a learning hub for the entire University community. The LRC occupies 11,000 square feet over two floors and includes open format seating, collaborative study rooms, a coffee bar, a 50-person classroom, computer workstations and more. The furniture options in the LRC are unique and maximize the students’ studying experience. Premier worked with all parties involved to delivery quality, innovation and value.

Harcum College Case Study

Recognized as a trusted educational furniture manufacturer and supplier, Herman Miller works closely with university leaders to design functional and innovative learning spaces that support the needs of college students. Harcum College is a private, nonprofit, two-year residential college, located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, not far from Philadelphia. The school offers associate degrees in arts and sciences, with a focus on allied health sciences, business, and design. Harcum College wanted to transform their existing Student Success Center (SSC) into a multi-disciplinary, cross-functional learning space that supported student engagement outside of the classroom environment. Together, Harcum College and the Herman Miller education design team selected workstation furniture that was both professional and comfortable, creating a student-focused space that inspired a sense of community and belonging for their diverse student body.

Workstation Furniture for a Diverse Student Body

When Harcum administrators began talking about a new center and its importance to student success, they were clear that the new center couldn’t be intimidating or only associated with remediation. It needed to be approachable and encouraging. Harcum College attracts the traditional high school graduate as well as many drawn to Harcum’s strong athletics program. The school is a NJCAA Division I school that attracts athletes from around the world.

“Because Harcum has such a diverse group of programs, we attract a diverse student body,” says Heidi Techner, Program Director for Interior Design and Facilities Planner. “We have a large number of degreed undergraduate students coming to us as an alternative to graduate school, seeking a new career path. They’re in their mid-20s, all the way to their 60s.”

Before Harcum’s partnership with the Herman Miller education team began, the existing Student Success Center was described as sparse and underused. Administrators felt it sent the wrong message to the students coming for tutoring and other academic support. “It was not a place where students wanted to hang out,” says Emily Fahy, Director of Student Support Services (SSS). But the need for its services was ever-present. “We also have a diversity in academic preparedness,” continues Techner. education

Students can comfortably study, socialize, or relax in this grouping of lounge seating.

Community & Belonging in Educational Spaces

“We have some students coming to college without a solid understanding of how to study or manage time and older students who have been out of the academic setting for many years,” says Techner. In addition, the grant-supported Student Support Services (SSS) program works specifically with first-generation and low-income students as well as students with disabilities. “Many of these students come to Harcum looking for more support in order to succeed at the college level, and the center meets a range of their needs,” says Fahy. “We help with financial aid, with managing student life, sometimes more personal things. First-generation students often need more support because college life is unfamiliar. It is really important that the SSC not be intimidating, important that these students feel comfortable. We’re trying to build a community of learners.”

The Harcum and Herman Miller teams set about to design a new SSC that would “create a sense of community and belonging,” says Techner. “We wanted to develop a place that was inspiring and would draw students in and make them feel like part of a community. Make everyone in the space—staff and students—inspired.”

Working with Harcum College offered an opportunity for the Herman Miller education team as well. The team typically partners with schools to research and design formal learning spaces. “SSC gave us the chance to explore a different type of place,” says Strategic Account Manager Tanara Hansen. “The purpose and use of the SSC reaches so many students,” continues Hansen. “It is multi- disciplinary, cross-functional, and serves students in a different way than a classroom environment does. This was a student-focused space where we could explore student engagement. Schools want to equip their students will all kinds of tools to prepare them for success in the world, and engagement is a key ingredient. Herman Miller believes the physical environment plays a role in engagement and success .”

Furniture in the new SSC offers postural variation and choice, from standing-height surfaces with stools to seated-height tables and soft seating.

Selecting the Right Furniture for Educational Settings

Harcum College’s new Student Success Center (SSC) is an inviting, pleasant space. Natural light, organic shapes, warm neutrals, and pops of color create a vibrancy that attracts students and staff. The workspace design, which offers a range of settings and higher education furniture , addresses the variety of activities happening within the center. The educational furniture selected for the space allows for a mix of multiple desks and seating options for one-on-one tutoring, collaborative space for groups of three to five, and privacy walls to divide larger workspaces. “This space is homey. Other spaces are ‘OK, gotta hurry and get this done.’ But here I can take my time and actually relax,” says one student. A number of comments from tutors add further proof that the administration’s vision for the new center is being realized. One tutor refers to the center as a “destination like the library….I don’t have to remind students where the space is located; they just know.”

The choice of modular office furniture for the SSC, most of which can be easily moved and rearranged, was purposeful. “We encourage students and staff to move furniture around,” says Hansen, “whether it is a classroom or the SSC. They need to know that that is part of the design and that they have permission to change things. Fahy commented that the staff encourages students and tutors to rearrange furniture. “There are so many different options, and the students have choices,” says a tutor. “I have to do less work to make students more comfortable in this space.” “Now the biggest challenge in the SSC is deciding where to sit,” says Techner.

The center is also inspiring the staff, who enjoy the improved aesthetic and functionality of the new space. “The height-adjustable surface in my office works well when I’m with a student,” says Fahy. “It creates a more natural and collaborative way to work together.” The new center also makes coming to work more enjoyable, adds Fahy. Harcum’s Student Success Center also features two private offices, one shared office with a height- adjustable tables and chairs, and an enclosed break room that doubles as a meeting room or space for private conversations. For these collaborative workspaces, Herman Miller and Harcum selected functional products from the best educational furniture manufacturers.

If use of and activity within the new center is any indication of its success as a place of community, inspiration, and engagement, then the center has met its goals. Students now come to the center for more than tutoring: They come to work, relax between classes, and meet with other students. “They stick around after their tutoring sessions,” says Fahy. “The space provides more opportunities for people to connect.”

“The new center is a great example of what happens when people look at space design holistically,” says Hansen. Having been part of the planning team, Techner feels satisfied with the results. “This is a great space to be in,” she says. “It’s collaborative, warm, and friendly. It has a good sense of light, materials, colors, and shapes. I’d love to add spaces like this throughout the college. It’s a benefit for both the staff and students.”

Clusters of tables and chairs can be separated by mobile marker boards to divide space, add a level of visual privacy, and provide writable surfaces.

Premier provided an entire floor plate of furniture on 5 floors on Market Street, Philadelphia. Glenmede sought a new, updated and more modern space. We were able to co-create a fresh new look for their full floor plate including workstations, private offices, conference rooms and all collaborative areas. Not only did we update the aesthetic of their office, but we were able to incorporate high-quality ergonomic products including height-adjustable tables and Embody chairs. We have since done several projects throughout the country for Glenmede.

Client Goal: Create a Decision Innovation Hub

This was an amazing project to work on. When the United State Army War College decided to take a portion of the new Root Hall building and create the Decision Innovation Hub, it was a perfect fit for the MillerKnoll family of brands. We were given a blank canvas and asked to provide not only the furniture for the space but also acoustics, walls, paint, flooring, lighting…everything from top to bottom. We were even able to partner with a local artist, Rich Moorhead Design, LLC.

A big shout out goes out to the Mula Group and GCM Construction. We brought Mula Group in to bring the design together and they delivered. GCM buttoned it up perfectly and made sure we stayed on schedule. This is a show piece for sure!

12th Annual Aeron Hockey

Premier was so excited to bring everyone back again this year for our 12th Annual Aeron Hockey Tournament! We were thrilled to have 16 teams compete in a double-elimination tournament to take home the title (and of course some brand new Aeron Chairs).

It was an action-packed evening all the way up until the final game, which was a nail-biting overtime match! A special congrats to our winners! Precis Engineering Inc. took home first place and CosciaMoos Architecture were our second place winners.

We are so grateful for everyone who made the night such a success! Thank you to all our teams, spectators and volunteers who came out to for a fun night.

This year was even more special to us - we were able to partner with Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education again. With the generous foresight of the late Ed Snider, all contributions were matched 2:1. Therefore the total impact was $30,000 for the students.

$10,000 will pay for one week of ice time for 150 new Learn to Skate introductory students.

Ed Snider Youth Hockey & Education (Snider) is a nationally acclaimed nonprofit whose mission is to create opportunity for under-resourced youth of the Greater Philadelphia Region to prosper in life.
Programs support the changing needs of our students as they advance through life stages and target windows of opportunity where long-term impact can be achieved. All services are offered at no cost.
Snider serves over 1,500 boys and girls ages 5-24 each year through daily programming in Philadelphia. The vast majority of our participants come from under-resourced neighborhoods.

Premier is honored to contibute to such a wonderful organization and make a difference in today's youth.

This month marks the 25th anniversary of Premier. We are so lucky to have made it to this milestone. Through hard work, determination, and an unbelievable amount of support, we truly have so much success to celebrate. On June 7th, we held a wonderful celebration to honor this great accomplishment.

A huge thank you goes out to our employees, friends, family, vendors and customers for being a part of this wonderful journey. Thank you to all who made it to our showroom to celebrate. We enjoyed an afternoon full of great food, music, and company.

Premier started as an eager idea by three ambitious individuals sitting around a dining room table one night, 25 years ago. Since then, Paul Barr, Marianne Barr, and Wendy Bonner have truly turned their aspirations into a flourishing company. We are so thankful for great leaders, and the team that we have created.

Premier Office Solutions, Inc. Acquires Corporate Environments

Premier Office Solutions, Inc. has acquired Corporate Environments, both Certified MillerKnoll Dealers. This partnership brings an opportunity to open up new regions and increase revenues, while offering the same quality service our customers expect.

The acquisition of Corporate Environments fits into Premier’s strategy to expand coverage area and build a stronger brand. By purchasing Corporate Environments, Premier is now able to serve more than 60 counties throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. We will continue to offer the same line of products supplied by both Premier and Corporate Environments.

The energy in the room was incredible! You could feel the excitement among all the lucky winners of this year's Best Places to Work. It was so fun to celebrate with everyone for achieving such a meaningful award.

The event was hosted by Philadelphia Business Journal and held at Rivers Casino, Philadelphia. More than 70 companies from across the Greater Philadelphia area showed up, all nominated by the public and ranked by employee feedback.

Premier is so grateful for the people that show up every day to make us a great place to work! During the awards ceremony, we discovered that we were one of the top three winners in our category - just icing on the cake! We have so much to celebrate over here at Premier... not only are we thrilled to officially be a part of the MillerKnoll Certified Dealer Network, we were just awarded Best Places to Work for a second time!
